Our journey to Comida Limpia de Puierto Rico
In 2018 we moved from central Florida to Puerto Rico in hopes of being able to wind down from the typical rat race we found ourselves in. Although we thought we were healthy individuals we experienced lurking underlying health issues that began to present themselves after our move. We had always envisioned that Puerto Rico would be abundant in fresh healthy foods, sadly we were wrong about this assumption.
We moved onto a small four acre farm and started growing as much of our own food as we could. At first we were just focused on feeding ourselves....then somehow we started feeding friends and neighbors, then before we even saw it coming Finca Brutal was born and producing clean healthy food for our community.
As our personal health challenges started to present themselves we were led down the traditional path of doctors, hospitals, lab tests, etc... Unfortunately or maybe fortunately these avenues did not lead us to healing or feeling better. Although it was a painful journey it opened our eyes and minds to the power of clean healthy foods and chemical free living. We learned the power of plants and herbs as medicine, and clean healthy animal proteins as the building blocks of our healing process.
While we were transitioning to take a clearer healthy path, we continued with our farming. Little by little , we invited other clean-food producers to our farm on days when folks were picking up their food from our farm. Over the last five years we have found and collaborated with the best of the best in clean-food production in Puerto Rico to provide the amazing market we call Comida Limpia de Puerto Rico.
The support of our community has enabled us at first to provide food for a handful of families and now many families all around Puerto Rico with markets in Rincon, Dorado, San Juan and Humacao.
We truly appreciate the support that our community provides us and we are still excited every day to see the health of our community increase with the foods we provide.
